NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday appointed senior advocate Rajdipa Behura as amicus curiae for assistance in contempt proceedings initiated against AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and others.
Behura previously served as the Delhi government’s additional standing counsel and the CBI’s special public prosecutor. She was designated a ‘senior advocate’ in 2024.
The bench—comprising Justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja—also issued notices to AAP leader Gopal Rai and journalist Saurav Das on a plea seeking contempt proceedings against them over an alleged “orchestrated social media campaign” against Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma.
The bench had earlier issued notice to Kejriwal and others on a contempt case initiated suo motu by Justice Sharma. The court has listed the matter for hearing on August 4.
The petition, which has been filed by advocate Ashok Chaitanya, alleges that Rai and Das had attempted to exert “extra-judicial pressure” on Justice Sharma through social media posts while Kejriwal’s recusal plea in the excise policy case was pending.
