NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader and former union minister Margaret Alva regretted that different yardsticks were being applied in distribution of tickets for the Assembly elections in her party.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday she pointed out that her son and the grandson of former union minister C K Jaffer Sharief were denied tickets for the Assembly elections in Karnataka held earlier this year under the pretext that it would amount to nepotism. But, in the elections being held now in the North tickets are given to the children of the party leaders. ‘’Are our children anti-nationals or terrorists?’’ she wondered.

However, she was quick to clarify that she was not blaming the central leadership for the discrimination. ‘’Local leaders were responsible for such decisions,’’ she added.
