Archbishop Bernard Moras released the revised Catholic Kannada Bible on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Moras commended the work and said that it would help to reach the message of Christ to many more people.
The translation was done by Catholic and Protestant Biblical Scholars and published jointly by the Karnataka Region Catholic Bishop’s council and the United Bible Societies of India. Moras said that the easy translation was done with references to the original texts of the Bible in Hebrew and Greek.
He said that the Kannada texts contain both prosaic and poetic forms, which appeal to the taste of the modern reader. The Archbishop also released the Pastoral Handbook containing pastoral guidelines for priests.
