MYSORE: Home Minister VS Acharya has ruled out the demand of the Opposition parties to initiate a judicial probe into the communal clash in Mysore in which three persons were killed and 48 others injured.

He said that the situation does not demand a judicial probe as the police and the district administration had acted on time. "The police are thoroughly investigating the matters related to the violence," he said. After visiting the injured persons at the hospital, the Minister told reporters that the police had tried their level best to keep the situation under control, ensuring that no untoward incidents got repeated in the city and succeeded to a great extent.

Except BJP leader Giridhar, all others are recovering at hospitals and are out of danger. As many as 40 patients are being treated as out-patients and eight were admitted to hospital," he said.

Stating that the government would not allow anyone to take law into their hands, he said security would be further beefed up in the disrupted areas.

He appealed to the public not to panic after hearing rumours spreading across the city.

When asked about the police department's failure to avert violence, he said that the inquiry would cover that aspect as well. He also said that he had no information on fundamentalist groups targeting BJP MLA SA Ramdas and others.
