

MYSORE: Infosys Technologies Limited, which is expecting to get over the economic down slump based on benefits from the recovery of offshore outsourcing has planned to recruit 6,000 more IT graduates.
Infosys which announced 6.8 per cent growth in the third quarter has plans to recruit 2,000 more labourers also.
Infosys has conducted campus interviews of about 15,000 engineering graduates and has sent offer letters to 6,000 of them. They are likely to join in the first quarter of the 2010-11 financial year.
WB plans on hold, expansion in B'lore
Mohandas Pai, Director, Human Resources, Education, Research and Administration, said that Infosys’ plans to set up a campus in West Bengal is on a hold.
He said there are no plans of further expansion of the largest Infosys campus; in Mysore. However, he said that they are keen to expand the campus in Bangalore and that the lands required for further expansion are to be registered.
When asked about the alleged involvement of different Infosys employees in the attempted rape of a French women in Mysore, for molestation of a child and in a hoax call case, Pai said that 1.09 lakh employees have become part of the Infosys universe.
Regretting the involvement of employees in all three cases, he said that they have suspended the employees and have ordered investigations.
He said that the employees would be sacked if the charges are proved. Announcing the results of the third quarter, S Gopalakrishnan said that the company is keen to invest in countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Japan , as well as in the Middle East, India and China. Investments in Europe, where the revenue has decreased will continue in the hopes that there will be an upward swing in the next 3 to 5 years.
Infosys committed to building 3,000 houses
Pai said that Infosys is committed to building around 3,000 houses for the flood victims of Gulbarga and Bagalkot districts. He said that the company has identified the NGO’s which will be assigned the house construction work. Though there are government plans to rehabilitate the effected families, the flood victims want houses to be build in existing villages.
Infosys will start the work of rehabilitation of flood victims in the next quarter.
