MYSORE: District in-charge Minister SA Ramadas inaugurated Melody World, an art gallery and museum of life-size wax statues and musical instruments, at Siddhartha Layout, here on Sunday.
The gallery, with wax figures of musical instruments, is said to be only the third of its kind in the world.
Over 100 wax statues and over 300 musical instruments from around the world are exhibited in the museum. This is in addition to wax statues of musicians.
Figurines of music genres - Indian classical north and south, Punjabi Bhangra, Jazz, Rock, Middle East among others are displayed at Melody World. The attire of the statues are tailor-made to match fabric and style. Colours are added to the wax when in molten state and cosmetic colouring is applied in its final stages. While eyes and teeth of the statues are artificial, the hair used may be natural or synthetic.
The three wax museums in India employ advanced computer technology in museum management and are managed by Shreeji and his wife Reena.
