BANGALORE: After the results of the Common Admission Test 2010 were out on Wednesday, now it's time for the successful candidates to gear up for the group discussion and interview rounds.

While the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB), is a top choice among many aspirants, who would ideally like to choose between IIM Ahmedabad and IIMB, they are clueless as to whether there would be a common interview for IIM(A), IIM(B) and the Kolkata centre.

However, Bringi Dev, head, communications, IIMB, told Express that there is no clarity yet on such a possibility. "We are not aware of any such developments. As of now, the status quo (of an independent interview GD) remains on our admission procedure," he said.

Recently, Diptesh Ghosh, chairperson of admissions at IIM(A), said that for the first time the three IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta) decided to introduce a common interview and GD session for shortlisted B School aspirants on a pilot basis.

The logic behind the move was to reduce physical, financial and mental strain upon aspirants, who otherwise would have to undergo the ordeal of attending different interviews and spending time and money on travelling to the three IIMs.

Meanwhile, IIM(A), IIM(C) (Kolkata), IIM Ranchi and IIM Lucknow announced their shortlist on Wednesday, while the IIM(B), IIM Indore and IIM Kozhikode were holding it back. Earlier, IIM admissions department said that its shortlist and the schedule for 201112 admissions would be out by Wednesday.

On both counts, it is the aspirants who are keeping their fingers crossed.
