KARWAR: An experiment of popularising Ramayana among common people commenced at Ashoke, the original seat of Ramachandrapur Mutt, near Gokarna, by pontiff Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji on Monday.
The programme is a blend of music, dance, painting and discourse on Valmiki Ramayana. The swamiji’s discourses are supplemented by classical dance, flute recital, painting and singing simultaneously.
Noted flautist Shambhu Bhat Kadtoka and Geeta Ramayan fame singers Shripad Bhat, Vishweshwar Bhat, Sandhya Bhat, Vasudha Bhat, Rajshekhar Hebbar and G K Hegde and Neernalli Ganapati, a cartoonist, besides many junior artistes, are part of the programme. A large number of devotees have been attending the programme.
Swamiji said that the programme was aimed at creating an ambience in which one forgets their mundane life for a few hours and immerses in the spiritual world. It will definitely create interest in the ancient scriptures. The programme is organised for world peace, he added.
The week-long programme will conclude on March 27.
