Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa shocked BJP leaders and party workers by his outburst against senior leader L K Advani over levelling of corruption charges against him.

He raised the slogan ‘down with Advani’.

Yeddyurappa blasted Advani at a Janaspandana programme at Nymathi village in Honnali taluk, 80 km from here, on Saturday afternoon. “Advani, who had visited Bangalore when I was in power, had levelled corruption charges against me. I had considered Advani and Vajapayee as two eyes of the BJP but when I was in jail, Advani said that the BJP government led by me was number one in corruption in the country, which hurt me.”

“I feel that Ananth Kumar was responsible for Adavni’s comment. It was not right for Advani to pass such remarks by listening to Ananth Kumar,” he said and asked, “Is Ananth a clean person? He too was involved in the Rs 18,000 crore HUDCO scam and had sold the government-owned hotel Ashok in Bangalore for just Rs 1,000 crore.”

Yeddyurappa  also took to task former Lokayukta chief Santosh Hegde. He challenged Hegde for an open debate on the illegal mining issue in front of the media and truth will out.

He said, “I had banned ore export in an effort to end illegal mining that was rampant in the country. My move was appreciated by the prime minister himself. But now you are making statement that in your report you never sought my resignation but the BJP leaders had sought for it.”

“By accusing me in your report, I will not become a criminal. In May 2013, the KJP will come to power, do not forget this,” Yeddyurappa warned. Earlier the CM Jagadish Shettar took part in a Janaspandana programme and left. Yeddyurappa’s son MP B Y Raghavendra, Excise Minister Renukacharya, Raju Gowda and Shivanagouda Naik were present.
