The district administration is gearing up to host the Cabinet meeting.

Workers were seen installing CCTV cameras at the Mini Vidhana Soudha, which houses important offices, including those of Gulbarga Regional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and others on Monday.

The work of installing 14 CCTV cameras in the three-floors of the Mini Vidhana Soudha is expected to be completed by Wednesday. These cameras are likely to start functioning on the same day, a day ahead of the meeting, official sources told Express.

This would felicitate monitoring of the entire building and pave the way for better security. Two more CCTV cameras would be installed, one each at the main gate of the Mini Vidhana Soudha in the near future.

Government is spending about Rs 2 lakh for the installation of CCTV cameras. Apart from this, fire extinguishers would also be installed in the Soudha at an estimated cost of Rs 1 lakh and this work too would be completed by Wednesday.

Though the installation of CCTV cameras and fire extinguishers are being taken up from the fund meant for preparations of the Cabinet meeting, these facilities would continue to remain at the Soudha even after the culmination of this year’s meeting in Gulbarga, sources said.

Sources said that the Cabinet meeting would start at 11.30 am on Thursday and end by 2.00 pm. Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok  and Cooperation Minister Puttaswamy would reach Gulbarga on Wednesday, while Food Minister Jivaraj would come on Thursday morning.
