Former Union minister and BJP leader V Dhananjay Kumar was on Tuesday expelled from the party for six years for alleged anti-party activities.
The expulsion came hours after Kumar launched an attack on state BJP president K S Eshwarappa, BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar and state BJP organising secretary Santosh. He was replying to a show-cause notice served against him and Yeddyurappa, who had warned the BJP leadership against taking action against his supporters.
The party had issued a show-cause notice to Kumar after he questioned the conduct of the Chief Minister during the recent Cauvery agitations. Opposing traffic restrictions around Shettar’s official house, Kumar had said the Chief Minister should not have acted like a “coward” when people of the state were in trouble.
Earlier in the day, while releasing copies of his reply to the media, Kumar defended his statements saying, “If the party thinks my statements made in public and party interests amount to indiscipline, then I am ready to repeat such mistakes.”
He also came down heavily on Eshwarappa, Ananth Kumar and Santosh, accusing them of enjoying fruits of power “while sidelining the person (Yeddyurappa) responsible for bringing the party to power”. “They are back-stabbers. I am being targeted because I am a Yeddyurappa follower. I don’t need to learn discipline from people like you,” he said.
Kumar sought to know why action was not taken against Ananth Kumar, who he said was accused in the HUDCO and Nira Radia tape scams. He sought action against Eshwarappa for “accepting that the party came to power with money, caste power and by supplying liquor".
