The three-day ‘Mysore Dasara Vidwath Gosti’, a seminar on the contribution of Indian scholars to the world, which began at Kaveri Auditorium in Manasagangotri on Wednesday, taught a fitting lesson to District Minister S A Ramdas for his tardiness.
Ramdas, who is also the Education Minister, fell at the feet of chief guest Dr M R Srinivasan, former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and a member of the National Security Advisory Board, apologising for making him wait for more than 55 minutes.
Srinivasan, who arrived in time at 10 am to inaugurate the seminar, lost his cool as Ramdas did not turn up till 10.50 am.
Srinivasan suddenly stormed out of the auditorium ignoring the pleas of organiser Dr Shalvapille Iyengar.
He took off his waist coat and sat on a bench outside the auditorium.
“Who is that fellow, why did he make us wait? Whoever he may be, he should be punctual. He should at least be considerate of my age of 82 years, and understand my difficulties,” he fumed.
Ramdas who was told about the incident on his arrival, went straight to Srinivasan, who was sitting alone on the bench, and fell at his feet. He apologised for the delay and said he had to attend the inauguration of adventure sports event.
