

Religious fervour and gaiety marked the spectacular Jamboo Savari, an elephant procession of Goddess Chamundeshwari held on the last day of Dasara celebrations in the city on Wednesday.
The procession was accompanied by various idols of gods and goddesses of the city which culminated at the Nehru Stadium, where tahsildar Kotturesh cut ‘Ambu’ as a mark of victory of good over evil.

Murugha Mutt pontiff Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana was taken in a colourful motorcade towards the old mutt in the fort on Wednesday and received offerings from the descendants of the Madakari Nayaka dynasty.
Popularly known as the Dasara mahotsav of central Karnataka, a chopper showered flowers over the Swamiji at Gandhi Circle.

The Vijayadashami procession was a crowd puller and a large number of youths took part in the event on Wednesday. District Minister S A Ravindranath inaugurated the procession near Venkateshwara Circle by garlanding the Chamundeshwari idol.
Tabluex followed by 12 art troupes, including Dollu Kunita, Veeragase, Nandikolu, Keelukudure, Kamsale, and other folk dance forms were the added attraction.
The highlight of this year Dasara was the Hulivesha dance by a troupe from Mangalore. MP G M Siddeshwar, chief whip of Legislative Council A H Shivayogi Swamy, MLA Basavaraj Naik, Mayor Sudha, deputy mayor Mahesh and others were present.

The immersion procession of Sharada idol worshipped at Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple began on Wednesday evening.
The vibrant procession with Nava Durge idols and Sharada idol also included tableaux depicting awe-inspiring images from mythology. Roads leading to the temple were illuminated.
