Amidst confusing statements from the BJP leadership and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa threatening to leave the party, his son and Lok Sabha Member B Y Raghavendra on Wednesday laid foundation stone for the office of the proposed new party in Shikaripur on  Vijayadashami.

This is said to be a clear message from Yeddyurappa that he will leave the BJP and launch his own party. Raghavendra told reporters here on Wednesday that  Yeddyurappa’s opponents in the party have created confusion saying that efforts are on to keep him in the party.

“It is a political conspiracy to create confusion among Yeddyurappa’s supporters and followers and there is no truth in it,” he added.

According to him, the BJP leaders both at the centre and state level had insulted Yeddyurappa who had struggled for 35 years to build the party and bring it to power in the state. “Desperate over repeated developments Yeddyurappa has decided to float a new party. But the statements reported in the media that the central leadership has been trying to convince Yeddyurappa not to it are just rumours,” he clarified. According to Raghavendra, the December 10 convention at Haveri where Yeddyurappa has most supporters will establish his strength.
