The private durbar conducted by the scion of the Mysore royal family Srikantadutta Narashimaraja Wadiyar at the Amba Vilas Palace concluded with him offering puja to a Banni tree on Wednesday.
Wadiyar conducted the nine-day-long private durbar as part of the family’s ritual without compromising on tradition.
He went on a procession in a silver chariot lead by elephants, royal horses, cows, ponies, camels, police band, nadaswara troupe and drum beats.
He offered puja to the tree at the Buvaneshwari temple inside the palace.
He removed the Kankana holy thread after the completion of Navrathri festivities.
The royal family and their guests also witnessed Vajramusti Kalaga at the Karikal Thoti of the Palace. As part of the rituals, the wrestlers continue to fight till one of them bleeds in the head.
Wadiyar watched the fight and paid honorarium as a token of respect to the Jatti community which has served the royal family for centuries.
On Tuesday, Wadiyar dressed in traditional attire, performed Ayudha Puja in the palace to the arms and ammunition, silver and golden chariots, vehicles and other items sitting in the mantap at Karikal Thotti of Amba Vilas palace.
His wife Pramodha Devi, sisters, royal guests and public were present at the puja which went on for more than an hour.
The priest chanted vedas and assisted him in performing the puja to the vehicles of the palace.
