Man killed over illicit affair

A 36-year-old painter stabbed his friend to death suspecting the victim of having an illicit relationship with  his wife. The incident was reported at Anjaneya Gudda in Kamalanagar in Basaveshwaranagar police station limits late on Tuesday night.

The victim has been identified as Jagan alias Kutti, 37. The accused Chandrashekhar alias Chandra has been detained by the police.

Police said both the victim and accused were friends for two years and the victim visited Chandra’s house frequently. Kutti’s visits to his house, made Chandra suspect the former had an illicit affair with his wife.

On Tuesday night, locals hoisted the national flag near Anjaneya Gudda to celebrate Independence Day. Chandra learnt that Kutti took part in the event and went there. He allegedly picked up a quarrel with Kutti over the matter and stabbed him to death.

Basaveshwara Nagar police have registered a case in this connection.
