Madhu Swamy may join BSY’s party

Former MLA and JD(U) leader J C Madhu Swamy from Chikkanayakanayalli is likely to join hands with former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, and contest next Assembly elections as a Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) nominee.

Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Yeddyurappa at the latter’s office here on Tuesday, Madhu Swamy said, “I am ready to join KJP and contest from the new political outfit in the next Assembly election.” The JD(U) leader, a twotime MLA from Chikkanayakanahalli in Tumkur district, said he would soon take a decision to join KJP, after eliciting the opinion of his supporters and well-wishers in his constituency.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad- Karnataka Action committee president and former minister Vyjanath Patil has decided to remain with the BJP and not to identify himself with Yeddyurappa.

“I will remain with the BJP and work for its success in the coming elections,” said Patil, who spearheaded an agitation seeking special status under Article 371 of the Constitution for the H-K region. Patil, a former Janata Pariwar leader, joined the BJP before the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
