Former chief minister and JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday said the statement made by leaders in Tamil Nadu on Cauvery water sharing row will disturb the peace and harmony between  two states.

“It is not possible for the state to release water to Tamil Nadu as Karnataka is reeling under acute drought.  Water levels in reservoirs are low and farmers are struggling to protect their standing crops,” the former CM told reporters here.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning all JD(S) MLAs met here to discuss the party’s stand. “Our party president Deve Gowda has advised us to wait till Friday when the Cauvery River Authority meeting will be held. Then we will decide the future course of action,” he said. According to him, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has kept the BJP government in Intensive Care Unit by frequently speaking against CM Jagadish Shettar government.
