Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar expressed hope that he would make it to the top post in the state government once again, in view of the decision of the seniors leaders that the BJP would face the Karnataka Assembly elections under his leadership.
Speaking at a programme, ‘An evening with the CM’, here on Thursday evening, Shettar listed the development works carried out during his nine-month tenure as the CM.
Stating that he was different from other CMs, Shettar said, “Within eight months I have completed (all) works, which other chief ministers would have taken five years to do.”
Terming himself a honest politician, Shettar requested the people to elect him to the Assembly for the fifth time. He asked the party workers to ensure the victory of all BJP candidates. “Though the Opposition leaders ridiculed that my tenure would end within two months, 12 legislators resigned their membership and some people were against my presenting the state budget, I have completed nine months in power,” he said.
Elaborating on the development works in the twincity, Shettar said he bought Rs 1,600 crore for the development of the twin-city, but it was not possible for a minister, he said.
Drainage system, 24-hour drinking water project, park development, formation of new taluks, four-lane road and airport development were some of the major works in the city during his tenure, he said.
He went on to list his government’s achievements like formation of 43 new taluks, release of Rs 26 crore for the development of backward regions, government’s efforts to minimise power problems, etc. He said if Gujarat was number one in development, Karnataka was the second state. MLAs Seema Masuti, Veerabhadrappa Halaharavi, and party state president Prahlad Joshi were present.
