The BSR Congress Party founded by B Sriramulu, in its manifesto for the May 5 Assembly polls, claims that it would rather have political parties ruling a ‘common man Republic’ rather than a ‘VIP Republic.’
Ironically, Bellary was dubiously termed as ‘Republic of Bellary’ by the Lokayukta report in 2011 which probed the illegal mining scam in the district by the Reddy camp.
The BSR Congress manifesto states that the national parties in the country are a ‘VIP Republic’ because of the high-handedness and the kind of regime followed by their leaders.
Surprisingly, the BSR Congress manifesto blames most of the national parties for indulging in ‘dynastic politics’, whereas the party itself is flooded with relatives of the party’s founder.
Sriramulu’s sister J Shanta, nephew MLA Suresh Babu and another relative MP Sanna Fakirappa are the faces of the party in the region.
If Member of Legislative Assembly Somashekar Reddy, who has announced that his priority would be to secure the release of his jailed brother G Janardhan Reddy, too joins in, it will only strengthen dynastic politics with the BSR Congress Party too.
