People expressed their loyalty to Wadiyar by tonsuring their heads on Sunday. His supporters organised ‘Anna Santharpane,’ where masses of people are fed, to mark his post-funeral rituals on Sunday.

The rituals will also be held on Monday at the Mysore Palace. Relatives and friends of the royal family arrived from neighbouring states to pay tribute.

According to the invite from the Mysore Palace, ‘Vaikunta Samaradhane’ of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar will be held on December 23 at Mysore Palace. Pada pooja will be held for Sri Abhinava Vageesha Bhramatantra Swatantra Parakala Swamiji on the occasion at 11 am. ‘Anna Santharpane’ will be held from 12.30 pm onwards.

Pramoda Devi invited dignitaries and leaders of all political parties for the ‘Vaikunta Samaradhane’. Arrangements have been made to feed around 25,000 people at the Summer Palace. Dignitaries will be fed at the Amba Vilas Palace.

Hence, there is no entry for tourists to the palace from Sunday.

Some organisations are also organising mass feeding or ‘Anna Santharapane’ programmes. People tonsured their heads at KR Circle to pledge their loyalty to and affection for Wadiyar. Bullock-cart owners and tongawallas put up flexes bearing the portrait of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar as a token of respect, across the city.

Some residents offered prayers to Wadiyar’s flex displayed in their areas, and lit traditional lamps.

The Police Department has made elaborate security arrangements at Madhuvana where Wadiyar was cremated as people will pay tribute to him there on Monday.
