Hattikuni dam in Yadgir attracts tourists

Hattikuni reservoir situated in a lush green area, has been attracting a large number of visitors. The number of people coming to enjoy the greenery and cool breeze at the reservoir has been increasing day by day ever since the monsoon picked up.

Hattikuni reservoir, 18 km away from Yadgir, was constructed in 1960 to irrigate fields of the nearby villages. The reservoir, surrounded by forests flanked by a hillock nearby has become a tourist spot. Nine sluice gates were installed to release the excess water. The Horticulture Department has developed plantations near the reservoir.

Custard apple is grown in plenty in the nearby hillocks and forest. This reservoir has been irrigating 2,145 hectares in Hattikuni, Bandalli, Honagera, Yaddalli and other neighbouring villages.

Though the place has enough potential to be a tourist spot, proper facilities are not provided.
