The state government will order a CID inquiry into alleged misappropriation of Rs 5 crore by the commissioner of the Mandya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and two persons, including a local Congress leader. Responding to the issue raised by JD(S) member N Cheluvarayaswamy, Law and Parliamentary  Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said: “The government has taken this case seriously. There is a prima facie evidence against the accused.”

Cheluvarayaswamy said the MUDA commissioner Shivaram and the two others had taken Rs 5 crore from MUDA and deposited it in the account of an individual from Maddur.

JD(S) MLA H D Revanna alleged that the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has suffered losses to the tune of Rs 90 crore as it procured cattle feed at Rs 14,770 per ton, when it should have cost Rs 6,133 per ton. “There should be an enquiry into the losses incurred. Besides, the government has failed to clear bills of Rs 250 crore as subsidy to milk producers in last six months,” he said.
