MLCs seek perks, benefits for police

The Legislative Council members on Thursday demanded more perks and benefits for constables and head constables.

MLC Marithibbe Gowda suggested that the government should pay a month’s salary to the policemen for working on holidays in a year and should also stop deducting HRA of constables who are staying in government quarters. This suggestion was supported by Council Chairman D H Shankaramurthy. Home Minister K J George said that they would discuss with the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and take a decision in this regard.

Government aid

The government assured the MLCs that it will release sufficient funds to provide treatment to haemophiliacs. While replying to a Calling Attention Motion moved by BJP members, Health Minister U T Khader said about 800 haemophiliacs are provided free medicines.
