Strongly defending the formation of a coordination committee to bridge the gap between the party and the government, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said the Congress high command is contemplating to constitute such committees in all Congress-ruled states in the country.
Making a detailed reply on the revised Budget for 2013-14 in the Assembly here on Tuesday, he referred to the statements of Opposition members that the committee has been constituted to keep him under check and denied any curtailment of his power.
“The coordination committee is not restricted to Karnataka alone. It is not correct to give a political angle to it,” he added.
‘Not Ahinda Budget’
CM Siddaramaiah denied that the revised Budget an ‘Ahinda’ budget and said all sections of society has been given one or the other programmes. “I have tried to do justice to all communities by announcing several welfare schemes and more importantly implemented some of the programmes announced in the manifesto,” he said.
Development projects in naxal hit districts
In an attempt to wean away forest dwellers from becoming Naxalites, the state government will evolve a pilot project to take up development work inside forests in Naxal-infested districts, Home Minister K J George informed the Assembly on Tuesday.
In response to a calling attention notice by BJP member V Sunil Kumar, the minister said the proposed plan would be formalised with the coordination of the Departments of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Forest and Social Welfare.
A meeting of the ministers of all the three departments and senior officials would be convened shortly to work out the modalities, the Home Minister said.
