South-West monsoon covers entire state

The south-West monsoon, which hit southern districts of the state on Monday, further advanced into remaining parts of Karnataka and thus covered the entire state on Thursday.

Widespread, heavy to very heavy rain was received in Gulbarga, Belgaum, Bidar, Bijapura, Gadag, Bagalkote districts.

Isolated and  light rain was recorded in Kodagu, Bellary, Shimoga, Chamarajanagar, Hassan,Chikmagalur, Davangere, Chitradurga, Uttara Kannada and Mysore districts.

“South-West monsoon has been active over North Interior Karnataka. However, it was weak over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka,” an IMD report said.

According to a report by Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, the rainfall pattern for the last seven days indicate that while South and North Karnataka received good rainfall, the coastal and Malnad region received less than normal rainfall. 

A moderate rainfall  of 0.5-35 mm is expected in most parts of the state on Friday, except Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir and Raichur.

Kolar and Chikballapur are expected to received a light rainfall of less than               7.5 mm.
