Excise Minister M P Renukacharya has been expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) “for breaching discipline”.
After a late night decision, new BJP state president Prahlad Joshi stated that Renukacharya was expelled from the party for his criticism of senior party leaders.
In a letter to Renukacharya, Joshi stated: “You have been expelled from the primary membership of the BJP for a period of six years.’’
Renukacharya’s expulsion comes within hours of his allegations against former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda.
Renukacharya had claimed to have given money to Gowda when he was the chief minister and also prior to that when Gowda was an MP.
Responding to the disciplinary action against him, Renukacharya said would announce his next move on Friday.
Renukacharya is expected to join the Karnataka Janata party (KJP), headed by his mentor and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.
