The JD(S) has urged the Election Commission to take action against Kannada actor Aindrita Ray, who had been engaged by the EC to create awareness among voters, for allegedly participating in a road show for the BJP candidate in Yelahanka constituency.
In a press release, JD(S) spokesperson Ramesh Babu said Ray has been engaged by the EC only to create awareness among voters for the Assembly polls. She has toured the state and her pictures have been used for the EC campaign. Babu said that by participating in the road show organised by the BJP candidate, she has violated the EC norms. “To uphold the sanctity of elections, the EC authorities should not only initiate legal action against her, but also recover the honorarium, if paid,” he said.
