UoM to conduct K-SET in Nov-Dec

The University of Mysore will conduct Karnataka State Eligibility Test (K-SET) for lectureship or assistant professorship in November or December.

The university has been re-accreditated to conduct K-SET every year for three years from 2013, Vice-chancellor Prof K S Rangappa told reporters here on Monday.

Based on the recommendation of a high-level UGC expert committee, the UGC (NET Bureau), New Delhi, the accreditation has been given to conduct K-SET for 32 subjects such as Commerce, Kannada, Economics, English, Political Science, History, Sociology, Geography, Hindi, Management, Tourism Administration, Education, Library and Information Science, Mass Comm and Journalism, Psychology, Social Work, Criminology, Law, Sanskrit, Physical Education, Folk Literature, Urdu, Public Administration, Computer Science and Application, Physical Science, Mathematical Science, Chemical Science, Life Science, Environmental Science, Home Science, Electronic Science and Earth Sciences.

The examination will be held in 12 sub-centres located in UoM, Bangalore University, Karnatak University, Dharwad, Kuvempu University, Shimoga, Mangalore University, Gulbarga University, Tumkur University, Karnataka State Women University, Bijapur, Davangere University, Rani Chennamma University, Belgaum, Vijayanagara Krishnadevaraya University, Bellary and Karnataka State Folk University, Shiggaon.

He said they are expecting about 70,000 applications this time.

Rangappa said the notification will be issued in June or July and application forms will be available on the university website www.kset.uni-mysore.ac.in.

Hard copy of the application form has to be submitted to the nodal officers in varsity centres along with Psot Graduation marks card and caste certificates, if applicable.

Candidates who have appeared or will appear for the qualifying Master’s Degree examination (final year) and whose result is awaited can also appear for K-SET.

Candidates who have secured 55 per cent of aggregate marks (50 per cent for SC/ST/PH/VH) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC, New Delhi, are eligible for test.

The syllabus will be same as that of UGC-NET and UGC-CSIR examination.

The K-SET will have            three papers of objective type, multiple choice questions.
