People say a picture worth a thousand words. City-based doctor H T Chidanand proved this when he used his paintings to educate people about diseases at an exhibition in Mysore Medical College and Research Institute in J K Grounds.

Titled ‘Arogya Arivu,’ the exhibition ends on Thursday.

Dr Chidanand’s paintings depict how diseases are contracted, their symptoms and ways to tackle them. Alongside every painting is a small poem with more details about that disease.

The paintings depict HIV-AIDS, rickets, Gonorrhoea, asthma, Alzheimer’s, drug addiction, awareness on sex, importance of using condoms and breast cancer, among others.

Dr Chidanand is a physician. He has worked as the Director and Principal of Mandya and Shimoga Institutes of Medical Sciences. P K Nagabhushan, a senior citizen, who was at the exhibiton, said: “This very informative for the common man.”
