The old building of the district court recently got a facelift and is attracting many people. Built by the Nizams in 1924, it had lost its original beauty.

The old building has been renovated without damaging the original structure. When it became difficult to conduct smooth court proceedings, a new building was constructed on the premises. While slight repairs were taken up earlier and some walls were plastered, in the recent renovation, the plaster was removed and the original look was restored.

There are five court halls in the old building and all have been renovated. The judge’s chambers has also been given a new look along with the other office rooms.

Sandblasting has been done on the outer masonry walls. The roof slab has been water proofed and the entire building has been painted with attractive colours.

Hi-tech equipment has also been provided at the court and the roads on the premises have been asphalted.

The renovation was taken up by R R Constructions. Ranganath Desai, managing director of the firm said: “The labourers have worked hard to preserve the beauty of the old court building and the credit goes to them.”

Besides renovation, a new central records room and a library building have also been constructed. The total cost of the works is `2.50 crore. The other works completed on the court premises are construction of first floor and second floor of the new Bar Association building which was completed at a cost of `2.30 crore.

Residential quarters for judicial officers and a shopping complex have also been added.

The new buildings along with greenery and landscaping is a pleasant experience for morning and evening walkers.
