BENGALURU: Sri Rama Sene and Hindu Mahasabha leaders on Thursday approached the 6th ACMM Court in the city and filed a case against Jnanpith awardee Girish Karnad, litterateur K Marulasiddappa, DSS leader Mavalli Shankar and other activists on charges of promoting enmity between different communities by exhorting the people to eat beef.
K Shivakumar Reddy, president of Sri Rama Sene, Bengaluru, and Vasudeva Rao Kashyap, member of Hindu Mahasabha, in their complaint, accused the Jnanpith awardee and others of inciting communal passions by distributing pamphlets and beef snacks at a public protest against ban on cow slaughter under the pretext of celebrating the 124th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar in a novel way in front of Town Hall.
The complainants have demanded action against the accused on the charges of deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs under IPC Section 295(A).
Based on the court’s direction, SJ Park police registered a case against the accused and investigations are on.
