HUBBALLI: Ten people died and 18 others were injured after a mini truck rammed into a NWKRTC bus near Gojnoor village in Shirahatti taluk of Gadag district on Sunday.
The mini truck was heading towards Nargund from Laxmeshwar town and the bus was was on its way to Bengaluru from Ron. The accident occurred on a bridge when the driver of the mini truck tried to avoid a pedestrian.
The driver of the vehicle Shiraj Abunavar (30) was among those dead. While nine people died on the spot, one breathed his last on the way to the hospital, said SP K T Balakrishna. He said the deceased were going to work in Nargund.
Three people among the injured are critical and have been admitted to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi. District Minister H K Patil visited the spot and assured `1 lakh compensation to the kin of the deceased.
