BENGALURU: Morning assembly will not just be restricted to schools. Henceforth, even degree colleges across the state have to organise a 10-minute assembly before commencing the classes for the day.
According to an official circular by the Department of Collegiate Education, it is mandatory to organise assembly for college students to inculcate higher education values.
The circular reads: “There is a need to increase higher education values and to give motivational talk to students. Considering this, colleges must organise 10-minute assembly every day in the morning.”
It is not compulsory for students alone. Principals, the teaching faculty and even non-teaching staff should be present in the assembly and the principal has to send a report every Friday to the commissioner about the conduct of the assembly and what was discussed. The principals have to send the report to ce.commissioner@gmail.com
During the assembly, college authorities are directed to talk on increasing mental ability, communication skills, how to get into the job market, how to make better use of information and communication technology, current affairs, about personality development, how to improve human and moral values etc.
Meanwhile, speaking to Express, an official from the department said, “It is mandatory for all— government, private and aided colleges. In case they fail to follow the rule, we will initiate action by issuing notices.”
