Good Show by the Captain and His Team Karnataka

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has many laudable achievements to his credit. He has done extremely well in implementing the party manifesto with zeal.

In the two years since he assumed power, he has steered the administration in the right direction with sharp focus on the welfare of both rural and urban populace.

Running the government is like playing cricket, where all the members of the team including bowlers, fielders and batsmen should play their role well and bring success. Only then can the captain excel. Whatever may be the capacity and skill of the captain, unless the team members deliver the goods, success will not come. In this context, the CM is taking everybody into confidence and doing a commendable job.

I feel glad to see that several pro-people schemes evolved by the government are being successfully implemented in both rural as well as urban areas.

The performance and achievements of the state government are extremely good compared to other neighbouring states.

In achieving success, officials play a vital role as they are the implementing authorities of the policies and programmes evolved by us. Siddaramaiah seems to enjoy a good rapport with the implementing agencies.

When I was inducted into the Union ministry by then PM Manmohan Singh, the first thing he advised me was to win the confidence of the officials, and go along with them for the successful implementation of various programmes. Wherever we have taken the officials into confidence in the implementation of programmes, success has followed.

Ours is a very complex and complicated society, and it is unfair if the Opposition parties target the government of the day for anything and everything. The aim of the ruling and the Opposition parties should be the general welfare of the people of the state, who are the real masters in a democratic set-up.
