BENGALURU: The CID on Sunday quizzed suspended ACP Alok Kumar for over nine hours and dug into the bank account details of all the accused in the lottery scam.

CID sleuths were also trying to uncover the other covert investments of police officers named in the police force’s interim report on the scam.

A senior sleuth said Alok, who was suspended on Saturday, reached the CID headquarters at about 11 am and was questioned till 8.30 pm.

Alok was asked eight primary questions related to the scam, his relationship with the prime accused, Pari Rajan, and the gifts he had received allegedly from Rajan. He was also quizzed on why he had called up a CID officer and asked him not to arrest Rajan when the scam was about to unravel. The CID has summoned the other accused police officers for questioning on Monday and Tuesday.

Rajan used to approach the police officers’ families with Tirupati laddu and befriend the officers’ wives by giving them prasadam. He would then offer the officers deals and assuring them of a steady cut if they promised to turn a blind eye. Rajan would also facilitate stays for the officers at luxury resorts and send them gifts.
