Sa Ra Govindu is New KFCC President

BENGALURU: Kannada film producer Sa Ra Govindu was elected president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce for the year 2015-2016. Another producer, Ba Ma Harish, contested the post unsuccessfully.

The election was held on Saturday between 2 pm and 6 pm. Voting for the posts of office-bearers was held through electronic ballot whereas it was done manually for the posts of committee members.

The election process was overseen by filmmaker Nagabharana. Of the 1,178 KFCC members, only 773 voted. Eight members were elected as office-bearers and 44 members have been elected to other various positions.

Govindu, who will take charge on November 1, said. “This time, the voters created history as they all voted for my syndicate. With this, I get more responsibility. As president, I will take the industry forward. I will look into the problems of producers and distributors. Having been in the industry for a long time, I know there are a lot of problems that the industry is facing. I will take 2-3 days and list out all the problems and work towards finding solutions.”

Parvathamma Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar, Leelavathi, Balaji, Kashinath, Vijay Raghavendra, Kumar Govindu among others took part in the elections.

Director Yogaraj Bhat jumped the queue and went ahead to vote. When some members asked him to join the queue, it did not go well with Bhat and he went away without voting.
