MADIKERI: Karthik Gowda, son of Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, will tie the knot with Rajasree Nanaiah, daughter of businessman K Nanaiah and Sudha Nanaiah, at a grand ceremony at Raitha Sahakara Bhavana in Kushalnagar on Friday.
The bride’s family will hand over the keys to an Audi-A6, costing `1.3 crore, to Karthik, as wedding gift. Rajasree, also know as Swathy, has a younger sister, Jayashree.
Preparations have been going on since Wednesday. The ‘chappara shastra’ held on Thursday saw the participation of 700 guests. Karthik’s ‘chappara’ ceremony was held at Raitha Sahakara Bhavana and Rajashree’s at Cassata Hall near Guddehosur.
Though the marriage was supposed to be held in 2014, it was delayed as Karthik was embroiled in a controversy. He sought a stay on the proceedings in the case before the High Court citing marriage which was granted by the court and later extended.
Kushalnagar division Deputy Superintendent C W Poovaiah said Union Minister Maneka Gandhi will attend the wedding. Owing to security reasons, confirmation of a few other VVIPs has been guarded, he said and added that the police have beefed up security.
Apart from police, private security personnel have also been deployed to avoid any untoward incidents.
The pandal, costing around `1.30 crore, which includes musical fountain and flower decoration, has been put up by Bengaluru-based firm. A Jathra Maidan will be prepared for vehicle parking. Scores of hotels, resorts and homestays in and around Kushalnagar have booked to accommodate the guests.
