BENGALURU: Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research is the first government institute in the state to get accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).
The institution was accorded with the certificate on September 2. The institute had sought the accreditation two-and-a-half years ago.
Dr C N Manjunath, institute director told Express that three NABH coordinators have been appointed by the institute to review the functioning of the institute. This apart, regular surprise inspections would be carried out.
“To meet the standards that the board members had sought to get the accreditation, a lot of facilities in the institute have been upgraded. Having the accreditation would mean that the institute has met all standards of quality care. It gives the institute a status of excellence,” he said.
Dr Manjunath explained that uniform antibiotic policy, treatment protocol and fire safety measures are among the few protocols that ought to be followed.
“The procedure of maintaining in-patient records was modified. With the uniform treatment protocol, the doctors on duty should keep a track of every procedure that has been followed,” Dr Manjunath said.
