BENGALURU: Rebel Congress MLA Qamarul Islam who had raised a banner of revolt after he was dropped from the ministry has fallen in line after holding talks with AICC General Secretary Chellakumar.

Chellakumar, who was in Bengaluru on Thursday as part of the damage control exercise, called on Qamarul and held talks about the developments after the cabinet rejig.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Qamarul dissociated himself from former ministers Srinivasa Prasad and Ambareesh, who have demanded change of leadership in the state. “I had not demanded change of leadership. My protest is only against the injustice meted out to our minority community,” Qamarul said.

Qamarul later met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah too and retracted from his earlier stand of seeking a change of leadership in the state. “I have been assured of a suitable post in the party,” he said, as he announced that he was not associated with any dissident leaders.
