BENGALURU: THE ambitious Student Tracking System, developed in association with Infosys Foundation, is set to be functional from July. The programme initially seeks to monitor the academic progress, dropout rate and other aspects of about 45 lakh students from Classes 1 to 10 in all government schools.
“The programme will later be extended to cover students in all schools. Each student will be assigned a unique identification number and progress of the student will be monitored constantly to improve the academic performance and prevent dropouts,” Primary and Secondary Education minister Tanveer Sait said. Speaking to reporters after chairing the first meeting with officials of his department, the newly inducted minister said distribution of bicycles, uniforms and textbooks will be completed by July-end.
Demand Survey for Govt schools
The state government has decided to conduct a Demand Survey on opening of new government schools or relocation of existing schools in the light of a drop in number of students in many government schools. The minister assured effective measures to ramp up the education standards in government schools on par with private schools.
Corporate houses will be involved in under the Corporate Social Responsibility obligation to improve the infrastructure at government schools under the ‘Adopt A School’ scheme, Sait said.
