Karnataka HC issues notice to Department of Public Instructions

Applications were rejected without physical verification of caste certificates and Aadhar during online admission.

BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Department of Public Instructions with regard to public interest litigation challenging the rejection of 86,514 applicants seeking admission under Right to Education Act.

Hearing the PIL, vacation division bench of Justice A S Bopanna and Justice Sujatha issued notice to the commissioner of public instructions department and director department of primary and secondary education department.

Adarsh R Iyer, Co-President of Janadhikara Sangharsha Parishath filed PIL seeking another opportunity in the 2nd round RTE seat allotment process to those 86,514 applicants whose applications came to be rejected  in the 1st round across state.

The applications were rejected without verifying the physical verification of caste certificates and Aadhar Card during the admission through online, the petitioner alleged.
