BENGALURU: Buoyed by the success of Flybus services to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will operate Flybus services to four more destinations.

KSRTC officials said they will operate buses to Madikeri (one bus) and two buses each to Tirupati, Salem and Kozhikode to and fro to the airport. At present, KSRTC has five Flybus services between the airport and Mysuru and airport and Kundapur via Manipal.

“We have received an overwhelming response. The high patronage is because of the direct connectivity to the airport that saves time for the passengers as they don’t have to get down in the middle of their journey. The fares of Flybus services are cheaper than private taxis. These buses also ensure safety, especially for women passengers who reach airport early morning or late night,” said a KSRTC official.

All Flybus services have Wi-Fi facility, LED panels for entertainment, live display of flights timing, GPS tracking, chemical toilet and pantry facilities.

KSRTC is also in talks with KIA officials to operate new buses according to the departure and arrival timing of the popular flights.

Many commuters welcomed the proposal. “It is a good idea to introduce more Flybus services. We don’t mind paying little extra if they offer good service,” said K Manjunath, a frequent flier from Mysuru.

Officials said the Flybus services between KIA and Kundapur via Manipal are quite popular as there are no adequate flights from Mangaluru airport to other states. Many students pursuing education in different educational institutions in Manipal have to come all the way to Bengaluru to catch a flight.
