BENGALURU: Police personnel were deployed at all sensitive areas in the city after the Supreme Court directed Karnataka to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.
Security arrangements were made especially in the sensitive areas and at the TN-Karnataka border. Security was beefed up at the Kempe Gowda bus stand, city railway station and at the Attibele checkpost, with a platoon of paramilitary force deployed there. Meanwhile, senior police officials, along with police personnel, conducted a parade.
Vehicle movement from the city and TN were suspended at Attibele. Though the situation in the city was tense, public transport was running, shops and commercial establishments functioned as usual.
No untoward incidents have been reported, a senior police officer said. KSRTC buses are only plying till the border, added the police officer.
Prohibitory orders imposed
City police commissioner N S Megharikh has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 till September 30, which is the next date of hearing of the Cauvery water issue.
