BENGALURU: KC Veerendra who owns several casinos in prime spots in Goa, Nepal and Sri Lanka is also the managing director of a gold trading firm ‘Ratna Gold’.

He was also allegedly involved in cricket betting activity across the country.

Son-in-law of veteran actor Doddanna, Veerendra was inclined to enter active politics and was preparing ground work to contest elections from either Hosadurga or Hiriyur constituencies of Chitradurga district. Apart from this he was also planning to field his own candidates from reserved Challakere and Holalkere constituencies in the upcoming 2018 assembly polls.

Sources also said that both BJP and JD(S) parties were trying to woo Veerendra to contest from their party during the polls.

In 2013, Veerendra had filed nominations to contest the legislative council polls from the local bodies constituency. However he withdrew at the last moment after discussions with JD(S) state chief H D Kumaraswamy.
Various incriminating documents were also recovered.
