Gold coins from 19th century discovered in Gadag

GADAG: Gold coins dating back to the early 19th century were found in Gadag on Saturday.
The workers who were digging earth to lay foundation for a house in Mulgund town stumbled upon an earthen pot with gold coins. Site owner Shobha Hiremath was surprised to see the coins and they cross checked to ascertain if the coins were real.

Shobha wrote an application to the police as per the procedure and handed over the coins. Each coin weighs up to 3-4 grams. One side of the coin has images of gods and goddesses and Hindi written on another side. The coins weigh 243 gram.
