Aurangabad-Hyderabad passenger train derails in Karnataka; no injuries reported

The incident took place on the Karnataka-Hyderabad border place, which comes under the Hyderabad railway zone.

BIDAR/HYDERABAD: Aurangabad-Hyderabad passenger train derailed near Kalgapur station of Aurad Taluk in Bidar district in the wee hours of Friday. The incident occurred between Bhalki and Kamalnagar railway stations, located about 52 km from here.

Four bogies including engine of the train derailed in the incident. No casualties were reported. However, few passengers suffered minor injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhalki.

The railway officials said that the derailing happened around 1.50 am and works to clear the track will begin soon.

The accident is expected to affect the train traffic towards Hyderabad as more than five morning trains, including the newly introduced Ahmadabad and Hyderabad Weekly Express, will be delayed.

District minister Ishwar Khandre visited the accident site and interacted with rescue personnel and passengers. He directed the officials to arrange alternative transport for the affected passengers--to Hyderabad and other cities--by road.

Meanwhile, a railway official said that the Bidar-Hyderabad passenger train has been delayed to accommodate passengers from the derailed train.
