BENGALURU: The absence of Opposition leader in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa at the BJP
state executive meet has again embarrassed the party leadership as it is being seen as a reflection of the rift between him and party state president B S Yeddyurappa.

Eshwarappa had participated in the meeting of senior party leaders on Saturday. A report on the ‘Vistarak’ outreach programme stated that the rift between the two leaders had caused a setback for the party.
Eshwarappa’s absence at the executive meeting on Sunday is being seen as an indication that the rift between the two leaders has not ended.

Replying to a question on the issue during an interaction with the media, BJP state general secretary Shobha Karandlaje said that Eshwarappa’s absence should not be blown out of proportion.
“It is festival time and Eshwarappa could be busy in puja rituals. Some of the leaders are also away in Davangere to attend the engagement ceremony in the family of MP G M Siddeshwar,” she said.
Reacting to media reports on the issue, Eshwarappa said that he could not attend the meet due to puja rituals at his home. He denied any differences between him and Yeddyurappa.
