BENGALURU: In a statement that is bound to embarrass the government, the KAS officer who claimed ACB police tried to armtwist him into implicating former CM B S Yeddyurappa says, “At the time, both DySP s Balaraj and John stated that either I should agree to the statement dictated by Balaraj making aspersions against the then Chief Minister or I would be made an accused in the case . They also stated that pursuant to the above statement I should also give a statement before the Magistrate against the CM reiterating the allegations,” he said.
Basavarajendra claims he was also threatened by Balaraj to agree to the statement failing which his promotion to the IAS would be stalled. He further narrated that he walked out of the office refusing to heed to their demands and found out on Friday that he had been made an accused in the case. “It is clear that I have been arrayed as an accused only because I refused to heed to their illegal demands. Under the circumstances I request you to look into the matter with immediate effect and protect my interest,” he requested.
Khuntia confirmed that he had received the letter on Saturday, but remained tightlipped on the next course of action. Meanwhile, the BJP, which has already been screaming foul over the two cases against Yeddyurappa got a further boost with the letter. State party secretary Tejaswini Gowda said they would pursue the matter in c ourt as that would be the most appropriate forum.
