BENGALURU: State BJP president B S Yeddyurappa on Sunday said that under Siddaramaiah’s watch, Bengaluru has declined from ‘IT City’ to ‘Rape City’. Crime rate is in an upward spiral in the State, he said.

Addressing the Parivarthana Yathra rally, he alleged that the State was spending Rs 600 crore of government money for publicity ahead of the Assembly elections and added that the state government should be held responsible for such blatant misuse of funds.

He said that the development of the State has taken a back seat as elected representatives were busy filling their own pockets. That parts of the city are being inundated thrice during a year indicates the poor state of infrastructure in the State, he added.

Speaking at the rally, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh expressed confidence of the BJP’s victory in both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. He said, “The results of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh will be out tomorrow (Monday). BJP will clearly win majority in both the States.”Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that they would get 10 per cent more votes in both the states than predicted in the exit polls.
